Local Boston Businessman Receives High Honor From Monaco



Monaco - April 7, 2003 - The Monégasque government is proud to announce the appointment of John Drew as Honorary Consul to Monaco for the Boston, Massachusetts region. As President of The Drew Company and President and CEO for the World Trade Center Boston and Seaport Hotel, Mr. Drew is an important Boston figure who is widely recognized for his development and management expertise. As Honorary Consul, his duties will focus on the development and promotion of commercial and economic exchanges between Boston and the Principality. His other areas of jurisdiction include all of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.

John Drew will serve as Honorary Consul to Monaco for three years. Along with his current position as President of The Drew Company, a Boston-based development and management company, Drew holds the title of President & CEO, World Trade Center Boston and Seaport Hotel; Chairman, Trade Center Management Associates; and Vice Chairman, World Trade Centers Association. Drew's involvement in the World Trade Center Associations was of particular interest to the Monégasque government as the organization represents a significant network of private companies covering a variety of industries. Furthermore, the World Trade Center Association's mission is to assist companies, through local representatives, in their projects for international development.

Mr. Drew received his master's degree from Boston University and is one of the region's top authorities on public-private partnerships and development. His numerous civic commitments include serving as Chairman of the Board of Governor's of Caritas Christi, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Artery Business Committee (an organization created to oversee the Central Artery/Third Harbor Tunnel Project for Boston). Mr. Drew was recently presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Boston Junior Chamber of Commerce and was honored by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties as Developer of the Year in 2002.

Monaco's Honorary Consul positions are established to create cultural, economic and business synergy between the United States and the Principality. Dick Wolf, an entertainment industry veteran and Emmy-award winning producer of NBC's "Law & Order" currently serves as Monaco's Honorary Consul for Los Angeles. Bob Dickinson, President of Carnival Cruise Line, is Monaco's Honorary Consul for Florida.
