H.S.H. PRINCE ALBERT II ELECTED ASSOCIATE MEMBER OF THE ACADEMIE DE MARINE


H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco was elected Associate Member of the “Académie de Marine” on Wednesday, 20th June. On this occasion, Admiral Jacques Lanxade, President of the Académie de Marine presented the Sovereign Prince with the Academy medal.

In his speech, the Prince spoke of the “pride and honour” he felt in having been elected an Associate Member "as had been his great great grandfather Prince Albert I in his time”.
In 1922, the Académie de Marine accepted Prince Albert I as the first Associate Member for his discoveries within the field of oceanography.

Prince Albert reiterated his commitment to protecting the environment, preserving the marine environment and conserving the Mediterranean maritime area.
In this respect, he greeted “with hope and enthusiasm the wish expressed by the President of the French Republic to relaunch Euro-Mediterranean dialogues”.  

Christian Estrosi, Secretary of State to the Minister of the Interior, the Overseas departments and the territorial authorities, in charge of the Overseas departments, came to offer his heartfelt congratulations to Prince Albert II and took part with him in the meeting on climate change.
