- The department of medical imagery, headed by Dr. Michel-Yves
Mourou, has again been recognized for its innovation in radiology
earlier this year.
From March 5 through
9, the European Congress of Radiology, which took place in Vienna,
Austria, gathered 9,000 European radiologists.
The Interventional Radiology Unit (Dr. Philippe Brunner, Dr. Jean-Michel
Cucchi) presented a collaborative study with the Antoine Lacassagne
Center: “Percutaneous Treatment in patients exhibiting Malignant
Cardiac Tamponade.” This study received the highest distinction,
the “Magna Cum Laude,” at the Congress. The main theme
being the different treatments like balloon angioplasty, used by interventional
radiologists to unblock clogged arteries by inserting a very small
balloon and inflating it.Interventional radiology is devoted to advancing
patient care through the innovative integration of clinical and imaging-based
diagnosis and minimally invasive therapy.
On March 30, Dr. Philippe Brunner held a conference at the Society
of Interventional Radiology in Phoenix, AZ. He was among three European
speakers invited to this prestigious forum to discuss the new techniques
for theelimination of tumors by radiofrequency: “The Difficult
Ablation: Complex Access Routes under CT”.
Finally,
last January, Dr. Philippe Brunner was admitted to the College of
France Radiology professors. This represents an acknowledgment by
the scientific community, on a national and international scale, of
the contributions and teachings over the last ten years by Dr. Michel-Yves
Mourouto medical imagery, making this unit a pole of reference.
