Principality of Monaco Joins Relief Efforts |
|
December 28, 2004 – Two days after a tsunami swept across the Indian Ocean leaving thousands of victims in its path, the international community gathers to help the region cope with a disaster of unprecedented magnitude. The people of the Principality of Monaco are shocked and grief-stricken at the calamity and devastation which affected so many countries and exacted such an enormous toll with loss of precious life from so many parts of the world. Our condolences go to all the victims’ families. At the initiative of The Sovereign Prince, the Government
of the Principality of Monaco is joining the international community
in its relief efforts through a contribution of 100,000 euros. This
financial aid will be sent to the United Nations’ Office for
the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Geneva. The local Monégasque association, Monaco Aide
& Présence, has also launched a collection fund to support
its “Princess Grace” orphanage in Kalutara, Sri Lanka. To donate to Monaco Aide & Présence: Monaco
