MONACO AND THE EURO

On January 1, 2002, Monaco, along with 12 member-states of the European Union, will officially adopt a single European currency- the Euro.

From that day forward, Euro banknotes and coins will replace the French Franc in all transactions.

Seven different Euro banknotes ranging from 5 to 500 Euros will be introduced, along with coins ranging from one cent to two Euros.

All old banknotes and coins will be completely phased out by February 28, 2002, although banks will exchange French Francs for Euros up until March 28, 2002.
