MONACO'S CONSUL GENERAL HONORED BY
MAYOR OF NEW YORK

As One Of The Leading Women In The City



NEW YORK -- Maguy Maccario-Doyle, Consul General of the Principality of Monaco and director of the Monaco Government Tourist Office in New York, has been honored by Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani for her contributions to improving the role of women in society.

The Certificate of Recognition was presented at City Hall on International Women’s Day, March 8, 1999. Ms. Maccario-Doyle was one of 14 women consuls general from around the world to be given the honor. Joining Giuliani in making the presentation were Irene Halligan, commissioner with the New York Commission for the United Nations Consular Corps and Protocol, and Amalia Betanzos, chair of the New York City Commission on the Status of Women.

In response to her recognition, Ms. Maccario-Doyle said, "It has always been a pleasure and a privilege to live in the great city of New York and to serve as Monaco's representative here. I am tremendously appreciative of Mayor Giuliani’s recognition and consider it a special honor to be included in a group of such distinguished women from around the world. I am proud to continue the legacy of extraordinary women that have represented Monaco including the American born Princess Grace and the current mayor of Monaco, Anne-Marie Campora."
